The Sounds of the Pontiac Solstice

One question that came to us via Cheers & Gears asked what the Solstice sounded like at high revs. The beginning of the latest video, see below, answers that question. However, I don't think the audio delivers the true volume of the engine noise because much of it seems to come from behind you (the camera was pointing forward).

You'll also hear one really weird "gurgle" the Solstice makes when you casually apply the gas at cruising speed. It is not a pleasant sound. I have no idea what it is, but I always give test cars some leniency because they've been thrashed around by automotive journalists every day of their lives. Poor things.

At the end of the video my fateful cameraman (actually my wife) captures a very twisty and hilly section of a famed Chicago-area road. Don't cry that I wasn't "extreme" enough either. We were going plenty fast to test the limits of the Solstice without giving credence to my wife's pleas not to kill her in the little red roadster (note the edits in the audio).

Thanks for the video. I downloaded it, as I do any Solstice video I can find.

I drive my 2006 Solstice through the mountains of North Carolina on country roads every day. It handles better than any car I've driven, and it's stock.

I wish you had taken your video during day time, so viewers could see the countryside you drove through. That would have provided better prosective, as well.

The Solstice is quiet, especially for a convertible. The motor does not sound strained, even at higher RPMs, and basically provides a seemingly effortless ride.
