: Center Armrest rant

I noticed that the Solstice has a center armrest which is good, but it's kind of low. My piece of shit Grand Am has one adventage over most other cars... it's comfortable as hell. I can drive for 10 hours stopping only once for gas and a piss. The center armrest is padded and positioned so that when I shift I don't even have to lift my arm. You might not realize how great this is until you drive a truck with a stick shift or a car without a center armrest where your arm is just hanging out there with nowhere to put it. I just sat in a car today (VW R32) that didn't have the center armrest. I mentioned it to the sales guy and he didn't know what I was talking about.

Is it just me or is there anybody else out there who needs their armrest?

I know what you mean, but I can't tell by the pics if the Solstice armrest is going to be a good one or not. That is the worst thing about my wife's 2000 Mazda 626 - no place for my elbows to rest. What year is your Grand Am? I had an '89 for 10 years until it died, and you're right, I was rather comfortable in it.

Attached picture shows some kind of arm rest. Looks like an extention of the transmission hump.
