I've heard two different trannys mentioned:
1. Aisin close-ratio 5sp. - mentioned in Canadadriver.com website: http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/040104-1.htm
2. Getrag - mentioned in Autoweek: http://forum.miata.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=015266

Anyone have any more info?

From what I've heard, I'd prefer Getrag, but then again I don't really know anything about Aisin--I found a website for them (forget the URL), but they only show automatic trannys on it...

Getgrag can make some wonderful trannies, or they can make some weak ones.. just depends on the tranny. Overall tho, they make very high quality transmissions.

The tranny in my Supra is a Getrag... 120k miles, 10 second quarter, still shifts great.

The intro on that Pontiac Fueling zone site shows a brief shot of a Northstar V-8 engine...is that engine available in any Pontiac? I thought it was Cadillac only.

EDIT: nevermind. Just learned that the Bonneville GXP shares at platform with Cadillac Seville and has the Northstar V-8 as an option (275 HP).

Well, I finally consider this "official" confirmation about production. However, the supercharged version was not mentioned :(
