Reading that you wanted additional members talking about the Solstice, I figured I had better quit the lurking mode and come out in the open.

Basically, a few years back I decided I wanted a 2 seater, basically to run wild on weekends or just take a ride in the country. Toyed around with the idea of owning several older british things but held off when I began looking at the Z4, S2000, Boxster and Z350. All nice cars but some tend to be expensive especially the Boxster. Then I thought about the Mazda MX5 and the Cooper S. But I'm tired of the MX5 look, it really needs something especially HP and not real keen of the Cooper.

Then I saw the Solstice and heard of the possibility of it becoming a real McCoy. If they can bring it in around $25,000 then I'm pretty much sold. Its the shape that I'm fascinated with. Real nice lines, real eye catching.

Don't know much about the engine selected so maybe someone could comment on that. What I am afraid of is another Fiero. Anyone remember those or am I showing my age? I really hope they do this justice and have some trunk space.

Alannon,

I remember the Fiero's -- The v6 version wasnt bad at all. The 4 banger definetly lacked power, but in the price range it was in at the time, what could you expect.

I would be disappointed if we dont see the Supercharged version of this car. The drivetrain is DEFINETLY going to be available as it is the same motor going into the Saturn Ion Redline -- ( see: http://www.redlineforums.com/ ) -- Which means, its not a one off motor that would be hard to justify financially. Its also the same "engine" used in MANY other vehicles, just with the addition of the supercharger.

All news and rumors at this point towards good news.

Only time will tell I guess.

I am in the same boat. I've been waiting for Honda to work out the kinks in the S2K's tranny and a few other problem areas. This car speaks to me in the way that the imports don't. Not to say that the others you mention aren't fine cars, it's just that I believe that Mr. Lutz can make this car worth owning. If they are able to bring it in at the target price and with an eye on quality control...It will be a winner!

Chip, your signature reminds me of the slogan on the site:

"Keep it simple, pure and beautiful, and it will be easy to love" -- I think Bob Lutz said that spedifically about the Solstice
