: big power with the Ecotec???

Ok I have seen big power made by the EcoTec, by GM and Lininfelter.

http://www.lingenfelter.com/ebay/images/Mod%20car/modcar18.jpg

The problem with making power with the EcoTec is not
builting the motor or forced air setup I have shops
picked out that can do that. The real question is (daily
driver) fuel managment for a 4cyl 500RWHP motor.

My questions are these?

If I plan to make a large boost EcoTec based car or Solstice,

-What air fuel management system should be used?

-Will the Solstice come with a 3 bar map and a tuneable EPROM?
**like the LS1 and LT1 cars I know so well.

-Are the fuel injectors Hi or Low impedance?
**with 240HP the Solstice has to have around 40lb injectors
**I want to make double that and 80lb injectors are Hi Impedance
**most GM stuff runs low impedance

-Is anyone making big forced induction power yet in a street
Sunfire or Cavilier?
-a-web links
-b-email to the owner wrench involved

The motor is built for more power as like the SRT-4 motor.

Steve,

sorry i don't mean to be a dick on my third post here @SForums but...

did u even read my post b4 u replyed with

i have done my home work,
this wont be my first fast car
and i'm am not a basic user

i said "fuel managment for a 4cyl 500RWHP motor. " and
" The problem with making power with the EcoTec is not

picked out that can do that."

according to this article (http://www.year2032.com/ecotec.htm) the rods will fail at at 283 flywheel hp leaving me short of my hP goal in this strong motor like the SRT-4

so say it makes 300 crank hp
after drive train losses that is 255 REAR WHP
and 250 short of my goal

Anyone else out there have answers to my original questions??

Ok...I am a learneth man now. I love the FAILURE TABLE below in the article. It can help you in achieving the desirable HP range and what to expect.

Great Article Tad, thanks!

It really points out the primary issue, which is: "It's possible to get extreme power out of the Ecotech, but may require exotic (expensive) materials, and reliability will be much better at lower HP variations."

I'm sure that's why they're suggesting "only" 200 HP for the Saturn variant.

Hopefully the Solstice will be a higher performance, variant with improved components compared to the Saturn. If not, hopefully higher performance components will, at least, be made available.

I think the Cobalt and the Solstice are the same powertrain. Correct assumption?

I don't know much about the cobalt, but I would assume it would use a basic version of the Ecotec rather than the supercharged version from the Saturn Red-line. There may then be a supercharged version for a "SRT Type" Cobalt.

I would hope (and all the statements from GM seem to point to this) that the Solstice would get the supercharged variation from the start. It's possible they'll offer supercharged and basic as two engine options in the Solstice (that could help them keep at least one variation "affordable"). I will be very disappointed if the Solstice doesn't have a better engine than the basic Cobalt.

Referring to the SRT opponent.
